Davion W asked:

Downloading full DVD movies has never been easier than before. Viewers are a lot more tech savvy and quality-conscious never ever. Almost every American home has a computer and internet connection, and with computer literacy at such high levels, it is effortless for anyone to download movie files online. What’s so good about DVD movies and why are people choosing to download full DVD movies over other options?

We all know there are a few ways to watch movies, other than to download full DVD movies online. The most conventional way is of course to head to the theaters to catch a movie. However, people nowadays prefer to save on the movie tickets and stay at home to catch a show over the weekends. Life is a lot busier for folks to afford the time and energy to leave their homes for the cinemas. Naturally, there are still cinema goers such as couples or group of friends. Going to the cinemas is more of a social outing than anything else.

For those who would rather stay indoors to watch their favorite movies can purchase them at local movie shops or at the shopping malls. There is always the option of renting from the video rental shops. I am sure you still remember the video tapes we grew up watching. People now find it difficult to settle for poor quality movies in video tapes. Even the quality of movie VCDs are unacceptable to some of us. In contrast, Digital Versatile/Video Disc or DVDs have set the standards for quality movies. Each DVD can easily store 2 hours of sharp resolution DVD video with crystal-clear audio effects.

Video rental shops have recently undergone a face-lift with the emergence of a band of online DVD rental services offering monthly rental plans for full DVD movies. While this is a big step, there are still areas of improvements. Normally, when you place an order for a DVD movie, it can take anything from one to a few working days for the DVD to arrive at your doorstep depending on your geographical location. Another limitation is the cap on the number of DVDs you can rent. In most cases, you are allowed to rent 4 movies at max. Folks also complain that the selection of DVD movies is not wide and newer movies often take ages, mostly several months to arrive.

The final option for you is to download full DVD movies from membership sites and burn them to DVDs or watch them in ready format on your PC. There are quite a handful of DVD movie download sites that allow you to download full DVD movies for a flat life-time membership fee. The prices may vary but are generally in the range of $40 - $50 for unlimited access to their DVD movie collection. The amazing thing is you can download full DVD movies with footages and commentaries that are often missing in DVDs you buy off the shelf. The movie collection is also constantly updated so that you would be able to download and watch the latest movies.

Find out about the most popular movie download sites from my blog and how you can download full DVD movies and watch them in a few clicks away.

This article may be freely reprinted or distributed in its entirety in any ezine, newsletter, blog or website. The author’s name, bio and website links must remain intact and be included with every reproduction.

CLIFF

Webmaster Dvdreplication asked:

The world is technologically undergoing a rapid development. A lot of advancements have occurred in every field. With the increased reliance of businesses on automated systems, data conversion services have become a necessity. It is the process of converting one form of data into another form, so that new features can be integrated into the existing system.

There are two main processes involved in data conversion services, Replication and Duplication.

DVD Duplication can be defined as the copying or burning of the contents of one DVD to multiple copies. The DVD duplication process is quite similar to burning a DVD on your personal computer. A DVD duplicator extracts data from the master disc and writes it to a blank disc.

DVD Replication is the manufacturing process that essentially replicates or carbon copies your original master. In replication, a glass master is created which stamps data onto the DVDs while in duplication process, the data is burned on recordable DVDs surfaces. These replicated CDs or DVDs will have the same touch and finish as the original. This ensures that you get the highest quality at the lowest of prices.

Although both replication and duplication process produce the same outcome, but the difference lies when it comes to the manufacturing process or the quantities of CDs/DVDs to be replicated. DVD replication is often useful for runs of 1,000 units and over. For projects that require less than 1,000 unites, DVD duplication would be your best choice.

As DVD Replication is continuing to dominate the market, a lot of innovative and efficient techniques have been developed in the DVD replication field. One of such technique is the dual layer DVD replication. If you want to store a large amount of data or huge number of files on a DVD, you might not able to do it due to space limitation of DVD but dual layer DVD replication allows you to do that. DVD-9 is a single-side double-layer DVD format that has playtime almost double that of a DVD-5. DVD players are designed to play DVD-9 without the need to flip the disc and they should play a DVD-9 just the normal way to play a DVD-5. The playtime for DVD-9 is about 4 hours. Therefore it is recommended to use DVD-9 if your video is longer than 2 hours. Most Hollywood movies also use DVD-9 format because DVD-9 can hold much longer video in better quality and is more difficult to copy. Even most of the Hollywood movies are copied on DVD-9 as it offers a larger place for copying data and information with the same great quality.

Many new formats are being released like Blu-Ray and HD/DVD that will increase the capacity of a disc. Blu-Ray Disc can be called the next generation of optical disc. It was developed by Blu-Ray Disc Association. It is ideal for storing large amounts of data, exceeding previous DVD-R disc storage capabilities. It can hold more than 5 times the amount of information that a traditional DVD can hold, up to 25GB single layer, and up to 50GB dual layer.

Then there are the HD-DVD discs. HD-DVD is an acronym for High Definition Versatile Discs or High Definition Digital Video Discs. They are quite similar to the Blu-Ray discs. The HD-DVD can store 15GB single layer and 30GB double layer, making their storage capacity 10GB per layer smaller than the Blu-Ray. But Toshiba, its makers, has announced a triple layer disc that can hold 45GB of information.

As both these DVDs are expected to rule the DVD industry in future, Blu-Ray DVD Replication and HD-DVD Replication techniques are also in great demand now-a-days. Taking this into account, many companies offer Blu-Ray DVD and HD-DVD replication along with the regular DVD replication services.

Blu-ray discs are very reliable and can last more than 15 years. There are no replacement costs as well because Blu-ray replication technology does not get outdated. So this replication method is quite cost effective. Also there is no need of purchasing special cartridges to hold the hard coated disc as it can be used like any other regular DVD.

There is a new advancement in HD-DVD replication which is known as FlexDVD. This is an ultra thin disc, only 0.6 mm in thickness. It is quite flexible as can be bent without any damage to the disc. It is half as thick as a regular DVD and also is resistant to breaking and cracking, so FlexDVD can easily be used in direct mail or as a cover mount on a magazine or manual.

No doubt, these newly evolving DVD Replication techniques are the future of the data conversion market.

CHAUNCEY

John Wellington asked:

I bought my first aerobics DVD 3 years ago, and have not used it since. I don’t remember what its title was - I have since left it forgotten and dusty somewhere in the back recesses of my home, and have not seen it in months, but I do remember several things about it. It was bright pink in color, and featured some big hair, grinning guy in spandex on the cover, screaming out messaged that make you think you should get thin this instant. I thought that the aerobic DVD would inspire me to get my rear in shape, but it was not to be. Instead, my brand new aerobic DVD just decided to stale away in the corner, gathering dust while I continued being a potato-couch, growing fatter and less in shape.

My second workout video was a step aerobics DVD, but it shared the same fate. I think I did try that particular aerobic DVD a couple of times, but it did not really work. I just felt so stupid sitting there at home, pretending to suffering along with an imaginary group of people who were not even in the room with me, fooling myself that I was doing something that was not completely ridiculous. I just could not incorporate this routine into my life.. I had originally planned to start each day with the aerobic DVD and a shower, but when I finally dragged sinful self out of the comfortable bed in the morning, aerobics was the last thing on earth that I wanted to do.

I have had three of four aerobic DVDs since then and, to be completely honest with you, none of them have done what they claim to be able to at all. It simply is not that fun to do aerobics by yourself in the living room, watching your aerobic DVD on the television. Nothing really happened to get me in shape from watching the aerobic DVD. Finally, I had to do what I had been avoiding all along; I had to join a gym.

Once I began to get my exercise from aerobics classes and not an aerobic DVD, it suddenly became so much easier to adhere to the program. The classes got me out of my house, and the people in them were real and so encouraging that I just could not come back to my old lazy self. Almost immediately, I was hooked on taking exercise classes to get in shape. It was almost like you could not tear me away from them. Meanwhile, every aerobic DVD I have ever owned quietly gathers dust in the house of a newer, fitter me. What a waste of money, you might say. Well, not really. They eventually make me realize how I can get in shape. By not following them.

ELDRIDGE

Martin Scott asked:

Even if you just want to keep track of a few DVDs you have burned from a friend’s copy, adding DVD covers that look just like the original will help you to keep track of your collection and will make the DVDs much easier to find when you are looking for that particular musician or actor. There is so much information available about artists, movies and performers that your DVD movie covers can combine a wealth of information about the DVD as well as images that capture the essence of the content.

If you choose to establish and maintain a comprehensive data base that includes a growing volume of information about your favorite artists or performers, you can organize it so that you can either prepare the DVD covers or DVD movie covers to incorporate part or all of the images and data in your computer files on the cover. If one of your DVD movie covers gets damaged, you can simply create a new one which is indistinguishable from the original.

If you are at all creative, you can come up with dozens of ways in which to decorate the jewel cases of your DVD collection. Perhaps you want to make a cover that exactly matches the original. You can do a search on the internet that will locate the precise cover that was used on the original release. Or, maybe you want to expand your understanding of the original artist’s music and replace part or all of the information or images with some of your own.

Many people like to create DVD movie covers that look nothing like the original but help to organize their collection according to genre, or era, or even a quality rating. You can use colors, designs or almost anything else that is meaningful to you and helps to distinguish the classifications that you have selected.

You can use any of the excellent sharing sites for obtaining covers as long as you don’t intend to use the covers you have created for commercial purposes. You are allowed to download both the front and back of DVD covers for your own use. You can just browse the large collections submitted by fans who enjoy making their favorite covers available to others. You can also scan and upload copies of your covers for the use of others. There is a large and growing group of people who enjoy collecting various covers of historical or artistic value. If you are interested in such a hobby, you may want to prepare displays or binders for your collection, so that you can enjoy looking at the covers in real time, not just when the internet version is open.

Using the sites featuring DVD movie covers, for example can provide you with interesting and creative art work for decorating your MySpace or other web page locations. You can capture images of the actors or musicians and reproduce them for decorating your school notebooks or locker space. Another use for the covers is as gifts or gift wrapping for a very special person in your life.

FILIBERTO

Sandra Prior asked:

CD-ROM Drives triggered a revolution in the computer industry, but the only real change we’ve seen since their arrival is increased speeds. And speed only matters if you’re transferring vast quantities of data.

If you’re listening to music, a 4X drive is going to do as good a job as any other (except, perhaps, for a little digital re-sampling or searching between tracks). In fact, high speed disks can – due to spin up time – even slow down the transfer rate in the case of small files.

The only other interesting development in CD-ROM technology is that a number of manufacturers have attempted to make larger capacity disks, although most recorders and the majority of recording software don’t support them anyway. The result is that there is space for a new form of media, and that happens to be DVD. Isn’t DVD meant to be about movies and stuff? Yes, but there’s a lot more to DVD than movies.

For starters, there’s the issue of capacity. A DVD disc can hold 4.7GB of data. But this is just a drop in a much bigger ocean. DVD discs can also be dual-layered and double sided, which means that they can store even more data on a single disc. Indeed, you can store an impressive 17GB of data on a dual layered and double sided disc, blowing the average CD-ROM right out of the water.

Of course, you’ve already established vast collections of music and data on CD-ROM and you don’t want to throw them all out in the move to DVD. Fortunately – and this is one of the key strengths of DVD technology – all DVD drives are backward compatible, so you can still play your CDs and access your data on CD-ROM while using a DVD-ROM drive. This is critical to the DVD drive’s success, and without it, the DVD would simply be yet another media form. But it’s not, and if you ignore it you could find yourself left behind.

This all sounds like a worthwhile change, but DVD speeds also seem to be much slower than CD-ROM drive speeds. If you can store such large amounts of data, surely you’ll need faster drives? The problem is that this is much like comparing apples and oranges. Because DVD discs have a much bigger capacity, the tracks are placed much closer together so more information is read over a shorter space across the disc.

Furthermore, DVD drives spin a lot faster than CD-ROM drives; a 1X DVD drive spins at about the same speed as a 3X CD-ROM drive. With CD-ROM discs the tracks are further apart, so the DVD drive can increase its reading speed…often significantly. The result is that the speeds used in these two technologies are not entirely comparable, although there obviously is a relationship between the two.

For the DVD movie fanatic, speed is unlikely to make much difference. In fact, the only difference that you’re likely to notice watching a DVD movie on a faster DVD-ROM drive are smoother scanning through the movie and faster searching.

There are a number of other factors that are worth discussing, most notably the drive itself. Unlike a set top or standalone DVD player, a DVD drive can not, on its own, play DVD movies. To do this, you need an MPEG-2 decoder of some sort. Until recently, the most common way of doing this was to use a decoder card and DVD player software.

This is changing, however, and many of the more up-market graphics cards now support DVD and are capable of performing MPEG-2 decryption (with the help of specialized software). So, you may well discover that your graphics card or DVD drive comes with a ‘soft’ DVD player. Whatever the case may be, ‘soft’ DVD players use system resources, so count on needing a fair amount of RAM and a reasonable processor.

More importantly, you’ll need a good sound card and a graphics card with a fair amount of dedicated memory. At least 16MB. You may discover that you can use your DVD drive without a decoder card, but you will miss out some of the features that a good decoder card can offer.

So what’s in a decoder card? Well, if you don’t have a DVD compatible graphics card, a decoder card is essential. Furthermore, if you don’t have a graphics card that can provide high resolution graphics, a decoder card will ensure that you can still watch your movies at high resolution and in full 32-bit color.

With a good DAC (Digital to Analogue converter) on the card you can expect sharp, clear images at high refresh rates. The dedicated hardware also frees up resources, taking the load off your processor, RAM, and graphics card.

EZEQUIEL
